I got to work with my wife, an archaeologist in the area of Crystal Peak, and although we did not find any amazonite at our site, we found a Texas connection where people of the same time period as our site AD 1400-1600. Found in the Texas panhandle amazonite made into pendants, and Texas Alibates, a "flinty" material was found in close proximity to Crystal Peak. (We also found obsidian which was sourced to both Yellowstone and to the Jamez mountains in new mexico at that site.) I enjoyed looking at your pictures of the work mining the stuff. Amazonite has come into my life earlier while assisting on the dig at the Aurora Burial of some 20 years ago. It was found as as one of the two grave goods with a male burial--now reburied with Native American blessings.

Just a note from an old rock hound who thought you might be interested. Take care, Bill
