Down in Criple Creek
posted in Collecting Locations, Filming, Family & Friends |One of the best parts of our travels, is getting to meet up with our mineral collecting friends in different parts of the country. So heading off to Colorado, we were excited to collect Topaz, with Stephen Renner & Tara Chew (Northwestern Mining Company) on their claim outside Florissant, CO. After spending a day collecting Stauralites in Taos, New Mexico, we arrived at their house very late at night. So after catching up, to the wee hours of the morning, we got some sleep to as to be rested for our day on the mountain.

Bottom of the Mountain.

The clouds rolled in as soon as we parked, making for a rainy walk to the top.

Justin was filming Tara, combing the tailings pile,

and the next thing you know, she pulled out a sweet Topaz

Shortly there after she pulled out another. So Justin put down his camera and did some diging himself. In no time he found one too!

Stephen was moving material from a new spot that he had only recently starting digging.

After a fun day, we headed to St. George for dinner. Stephen brought along some of his choice specimens to keep us entertained while we waited for our food to come.
